Substrates are generally categorized by the insulating portion of the substrate. Common materials include bakelite, fiberglass, and various types of plastic. PCBs typically use an insulating portion composed of fiberglass, non-woven fabric, and resin, followed by a prepreg laminated with epoxy resin and copper foil.
